Christopher May M.D., Scottsdale:
"I am a physician who lives and works in District 5. I've contacted Rep. Harry Mitchell's office repeatedly to express my opposition to the unworkable health-care bill that he and the other Democrats have produced behind closed doors, and to offer constructive suggestions on how it could be improved, but my pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Rep. Mitchell knows perfectly well that District 5 physicians and non-physicians alike are against this monstrosity, but he has repeatedly ignored the wishes of his constituents and voted according to the party-line dictates of Nancy Pelosi. This bill is a giveaway to big insurance and pharmaceutical interests that have sloshed money around the Democratic Congress. It will eviscerate Medicare and make caring for our elders more difficult. It will result in an army of officious busybodies with no medical training empowered to second-guess every decision your doctor makes. David Schweikert has promised to vote to repeal this bill if it becomes law. He is in favor of common sense reforms that will improve health care delivery without bankrupting the country or weakening our Medicare obligations. As a former county treasurer, he can be counted upon to get out the green eyeshades every time the Democrats propose a wild spending frenzy, and focus on the bottom line costs and benefits to the taxpayers he represents. I'm proud to offer Mr. Schweikert my support and hope you'll join me. Together we can beat Nancy Pelosi's lapdog, Harry Mitchell, and return representation to Washington that reflects the beliefs and aspirations of the citizens of District 5. "
